[Vox Dallas] 12/14/08 Advent: Festival Service of Lessons and Carols
We're in the middle of the Season of Advent - the anticipation of Christ! This Sunday, we're going to take a little field trip to the Festival service of Lessons and Carols put on by the Lord of Life Lutheran Church. Instead of meeting at the comfort suites, we'll get together for dinner at Cafe Brazil (NE corner of George Bush Turnpike and Coit) and then head down the road a couple blocks to the church.

Lord of Life Lutheran Church Fine Arts/Concert Series and Music Ministry presents the ninth annual Festival Service of Lessons and Carols on Sunday, 14 December. This service of readings interspersed with popular traditional carols originated at Truro Cathedral in England in the 1880s, and is continued each year in churches all over the world.
The choirs and instrumentalists of Lord of Life’s music ministry will lead the congregation in the beloved hymns and carols of Christmas and Advent. Strings, brass, choir and organ will join together to perform festive music of Bach, Vivaldi, and others, including choral chant settings of the "O antiphons," a medieval liturgical text describing the attributes of Christ.
Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Plano is located at 3601 W. 15th Street (near the Medical Center, one block east of Coit Road). This is a service of worship and is therefore free; however, a door offering will be received. Visit www.lol-plano.org or call 972.867.5588 for more information.
